Raindrops

Raindrops

Storm window, sealed tight,
hoping in vain to keep out fallen raindrops,
but the water somehow finds its way in anyhow.

drip...drip...drop...shh...

Puddles on the floor,
slippery wet,
glassy glare reflecting the rain-streaked window,
rippling momentarily, steadily,
dust and debris awash in the floodwaters.

She sits solemnly, staring, silently,
watching, waiting, wondering why.
Fingers leave foggy marks on the cool glass,
outstretched, reaching for something--
something to hold on to.

She grasps air,
for there is nothing there for her.

drip...drip...drop...shh...

Puddles on the floor,
of tears and raindrops...
Streaks on cool glass,
and warm skin...

And raindrops keep falling,
filling the void,
of nothing and everything,
and nothing in the same.

Cold eyes glazed with pain and fear--
the worry of losing another day,
with nothing to show for it--
keep staring straight out the window,
fingers against glass,
searching but never finding...

drip...drip...drop...shh...

For there is nothing
(nothing)
left to find.

I think this is my favorite one on here. I like the imagery and the words create a very vivid picture. Your right though, you have gotten darker but it works. I would still like to see a classic Haley happy one though! Also, good job on the layout, it works really well with the mood of the poetry.

Thanks Dean. I myself have been working on a different approach to writing, and I think this one is much freer to me (as far as tone and imagery). But I also am writing happy things too. =)

I hope you'll all check back soon, as Auron and I have another poem in the works! It's kind of a deviation from our "normality," which is completely abnormal, but I think everyone will be able to relate to it somehow. Happy Reading!

Thanks Katie! I think working with Auron on some things has really changed my perspective on writing in general. I'm able to write about things I've never tried before..it's awesome!

Silent.Echoes is on hold for a while, but we'll be back soon! We're NOT leaving!!! But there are a few things in the works, so please check back soon =)
